A team is required to play in a lot of sports such as basketball, baseball, and football. And if you’ve watch sports coverage on television or even watched it live, you will see how important teams need to move as one complete unit in order to win. Each player has his own role to play, but all are synchronized to achieve a goal. They’re like keys on a piano; when all play at the right times, beautiful music is produced. So the World Cup is over for another 4 years and supporters all around the world are dicussing what could have been if things had gone there way. It’s widley acjnowledged that Spain were the best footballing in team at the tournament and deserved their victory. There were however a number of teams that will be very disappointment with thier performances.

England are a prime example of this. All seems to be going well until Robert Green let a shot from Clint Dempsey slip through his goalkeeper gloves and into the back of the net; from then on it was all down hill. Both the Slovenia and Algerian games were poor and did England’s players no favours at all. The game against Germany was men against boys. The worrying thing is that there didn’t seem to be any fight from players such as Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney, who are normally the ones that play so well for their clubs week in and week out in the premier league.

One of the most confusing things about learning to sail is understanding all of the terminology: Jib, Hoist, mainsail, foresail, port, leeward and on and on.

Its always been a dream of mine to learn to sail, and maybe even go on a long sailing trip – around the world! But I’ve always been embarrassed by the sheer amount of things I didn’t know. Too embarrassed to even accept invitations to go sailing.

There is actually a lot of info around the net but none of it is organized and I still felt like I was swimming in the ocean without a life vest. Well after looking around for a while I finally came up with a plan.

• Create a list of keywords that confuse me about sailing and find definitions
• Read some good basic articles to create a map in my head of what I need to know
• Take an on line sailing course to get the theory and book knowledge ingrained in my head
• Find a good sailing school to get some practical experience.

Some online courses will help you learn to sail, and are essential, but nothing will ever replace the practical experience of actually getting out there on a sailboat. But having enough knowledge to find your way around a sailboat can keep you safe and make you a valuable crew member for friends when you do get invited out for that summer outing.

You have got to start somewhere and I reccomend you begin learning to sail by understanding the sailing basics behind the mainsail. As its name suggests it it the most important sail on your boat and knowing how to use it properly cna make you start to feel like a sailor right away.

You may also want to do an app search on your iphone for a good Flash Card application. That really helped me to memorize all the sailing terminology.
